Domestic and International Cultural Exchange Program


The Shepherds Tabernacle Church’s Cultural Exchange Program was designed to enhance global learning and cultural differences by offering opportunities for high school students in the Alief-Houston area to travel domestically and internationally. The goal of cultural exchange program is to provide at-risk teenagers within our communities with a quality experience that will not only enhance personal growth and build confidence but also will establish lasting friendships with other nationalities domestically and internationally.The Cultural Exchange program, integrated with our Arts and Humanities program will focus on educational opportunities and cross-cultural experiences. We will teach at-risk youths how to expand their normal scope of world understanding.

All prospects will be personally interviewed and assessed for their maturity and true commitment to the program. In addition, each prospect must:


  • Maintain a minimum overall academic record of a B+ average
  • Be mature, flexible, and adaptable
  • Be willing to accept any host family and high school placement assigned to them
  • Be between the ages of 15-18 years
  • Demonstrate good conversational English language ability
  • Have proof of English language skills
